PRAYER FLAGS OVER KATHMANDU
You can see for miles from atop the Monkey Temple. There are 365 steps to get to the top, one for each day of the year. Along the way there are these large urns that are the graves of the priest and monks of the temple. Parts of the temple date back to the 5th century b.c. while others are from the 14th and 15th centuries.
The Temple Priest
These urn like containers hold the remains of the temple's priest. The priest live at the temple and work on handicrafts to sell. These include: singing bowls, statues, bronze and gold artifacts, and jewelry. The modern day priest are young. One I saw looked about 15 years old!
Monkeys
Monkeys and goats roam around the steps and top of the temple. There is also a great amount of stray dogs roaming the streets.
Community Shelters
These community shelters created from bamboo give the people living in the IDP camps a place to gather for various reasons.
PR of China
The US is not the only country giving relief. This IDP camps was supported by the PR of China. The AHV have volunteers from all around the world including Iceland, England, America, Mexico, Columbia, as well as many more.
Goats
Goats are a common sight on the work sites.
